Rapper Lil Uzi Vert’s bodyguard was arrested in Manhattan Monday night after he was caught allegedly carrying an illegal gun, cops and law enforcement sources said.
The bodyguard, Kevin Nelson, also allegedly lied to police about being a law enforcement officer during a traffic stop in front of 100 Barclays Street around 5:30 p.m., police and sources said.
Nelson, 40, was in the front passenger seat of a Ford F-450 that was pulled over, sources said.
The Pennsylvania resident was allegedly possessing an illegal, loaded semi-automatic firearm that he’s not licensed to carry in New York City, the sources added.
Cops determined he’s not law enforcement and charged him with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal impersonation, authorities said.
Nelson works as a bodyguard for rapper Lil Uzi Vert, sources said.
The rapper was not present when Nelson was arrested, according to sources.
Lil Uzi Vert performed on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” Monday, according to a tweet from the show’s account.
He rocked out to his hit single “Just Wanna Rock” that was released in 2022.
