Microsoft has formalized a novelty for the Bing chatbot, the one based on OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which will not please those who have managed to be part of the first tranche of lucky users. The novelty probably comes as a response to the clogging of the servers or to the criticisms relating to the numerous “questionable” answers of the chatbot when pressed with a large number of questions, but so much so that the next interactions will be decidedly more limited than today’s ones.
Microsoft has announced a change fundamental in how the people selected to test the chatbot will interact with Bing Chat in the near future, which will severely limit its daily use and that of each session.
In a post on the official Bing blog, Microsoft explained the new limits, which essentially provide for a maximum number of di 5 interactions per chat, with the latter limited to a maximum of 50 per day. Here is the translation of what was written by Microsoft.
Starting today, the chat experience will be limited to 50 chat rounds per day and 5 interactions per session. A turn is a conversation exchange that contains both a user question and a Bing answer. Our data has shown that the vast majority of you find the answers you’re looking for within 5 rounds and that only around 1% of chat conversations have more than 50 messages. After a chat session reaches 5 rounds, you will be prompted to start a new topic. At the end of each chat session, the context should be cleared so that the model doesn’t get confused.
The blog post specifies that Microsoft will consider extending the number of daily and per-session shifts on the chatbot again, but did not provide a time frame in which this could happen.
In the meantime, OpenAI has also announced news for its GPT-3 model, which can be customized in responses with future integrations.
