Samsung’s new Galaxy S23 are enjoying good public success and part of this merit can certainly be attributed to the manufacturer’s decision to equip the models with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips. At least for this year, therefore, the Korean brand has decided to give up its own Exynos processor. However, in the light of recent rumors, the company could retrace its steps. Second Business KoreaIndeed, an internal team led by Rahul Tuli would be working on designing a custom CPU named tentatively “galaxy chips” and which could debut in 2025.
Samsung, however, immediately denied the news. Specifically, the company said: “A recent media report that Samsung established an internal team dedicated to CPU core development is not true. Contrary to news reports, we have long had multiple internal teams responsible for CPU development and optimization, constantly recruiting global talent from relevant fields”. This clarification from Samsung, therefore, clearly highlights that the company hasn’t started developing custom CPUs at all to be allocated to its future smartphones, tablets and laptops.
So Samsung’s willingness to continue using it on its devices is evident the CPU cores of ARM, also in light of the opinions of several users who in the past have complained about the performance of Exynos processors. Among other things, always in relation to its chips, Samsung was also involved in the controversy over the GOS (Game Optimization Service), or a service that limited the performance of the CPU and GPU in order to avoid overheating of the device and therefore faster consumption of the battery.
