And in the end after many rumors, during the Unpacked event on February 1, 2023, Samsung announced, together with the new Galaxy S23 smartphones, also the third generation Galaxy Books. More or less confirmed all the rumors seen so far: the range is currently divided into four models, including the completely new and top of the range Galaxy Book3 Ultra with latest generation NVIDIA GeForce RTX discrete video card, and three Pro – two traditional laptops 14- and 16-inch and a 16-inch convertible.
“The new Galaxy Book3 are designed for those who need seamless multi-device connectivity and superior quality hardware to increase their productivity and creativity”, explains the press release from Samsung, which focuses so much on the concept of ecosystem and HW/SW synergy in a way not unlike what Apple proposes. The laptops of the South Korean giant are in fact equipped with a plethora of additional applications that increase interaction with other Galaxy devices, including tablets and smartphones. Among these are mentioned:
- Galaxy Book Experiencea guide that allows you to explore all the exclusive features of the handset and the Galaxy ecosystem.
- Samsung Multi Controlwhich allows you to control both laptops, tablets and (new this year) smartphones with the same set of controllers (mouse/trackpad and keyboard), with support for copying and cross-transferring files and other contents .
- Second Screenwhich turns Galaxy Tab tablets into wireless secondary monitors for your laptop.
- Expert Raw allows you to take high-quality photos on Galaxy smartphones and automatically transfer them to the laptop for import and editing with Adobe Lightroom.
- Connection to the telephone displays the screen of your compatible Galaxy smartphone in a Windows window.
- Linking to websites recent shows the browsing history of the smartphone on the laptop.
- Instant Hotspot allows you to connect your laptop to the Internet via your Galaxy smartphone in a simple and immediate way.
- Single sign-on, Samsung Pass And Smart Switches they take care of simplifying the access to your account and the synchronization of personal settings and the transfer of data from your old Windows PC.
But let’s take a closer look at the various models and understand what they have to offer. Meanwhile, some general technical characteristics: the hardware platform is always based on the latest generation Intel Core processors (the thirteenth), with the Ultra model even employing up to the i9-13900H. Ultra is also the only laptop in the lot with a discrete video card, and it goes all the way GeForce RTX 4070. The display also has a common feature: for the first time, the same technology is found Dynamic AMOLED 2X seen in the most prestigious Galaxy smartphones. The resolution is 3K 1800p, the refresh goes up to 120 Hz and there is DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.
