During the MWC 2023 OnePlus has finally lifted the veil on OnePlus 11 Concepta device that brings for the first time true liquid cooling even in the world of smartphones. That the theme of cooling could be central to this Concept had already emerged with the first rumors that anticipated its design, but it was not clear how far OnePlus wanted to go: now we know it.
The back of the OnePlus 11 Concept is therefore not a simple aesthetic element that makes the smartphone unique, but shows us the new Active Cryoflux system and its dissipation channels in which the refrigeration liquid which is circulated by a ceramic piezoelectric pump (it occupies less than 0.2 cm²). Actually the whole matter would go declined in the conditionalsince the concept shown by OnePlus is not actually functional, therefore the model present at the fair uses LEDs to show how the liquid should flow along the active dissipation system.
OnePlus has confirmed to us that i LEDs could be also present in a possible final modelso as to give a captivating aesthetic appearance to the whole Active Cryoflux system, but at the moment this it’s not really operational yet. This will allow the heat produced by the SoC to be more effectively dissipated, going to reduce the operating temperature by about 2.1° during games – with an advantage of about 3-4 fps -, while the will reduce by 1.6° during the charging processa fact that will allow you to gain up to 45 seconds in the complete recharge.
The company has also worked on the back cover, which has a particular defined coating magnetron sputtering which, as stated, “deposits metals and alloys in minimal quantities on the body thanks to the presence of an electric field”. Particular care has also been taken in the design of the camera compartment, where the lens area is surrounded by a Guilloche engravinga decorative technique that OnePlus defines as “very precise that is usually found in luxury watches and that here is an absolute novelty for the sector”.
Overall, these are certainly not mind-boggling numbers as regards the potential of Active Cryoflux, but remember that the system presented by OnePlus is still a concept and therefore there is plenty of room to introduce further improvements that can make a difference. For the moment, the result from a visual point of view is certainly of great impact.
