Katherine, Princess of Wales has cultivated a relationship with Queen Camilla in a bid to smooth over tensions between King Charles and Princes William, Angela Levin has said.
The royal biographer’s claims appear to run counter to suggestions that Kate and Camilla have a fractious relationship after reports the Princess refused to curtsy to her mother-in-law during the King’s coronation.
In her recent updated biography of Queen Camilla, Ms Levin says Kate used a shared love of arts to bond with both Camila and Charles.
She writes: “Fortunately, time helped improve Camilla’s relationship with senior Royals, including Prince William, largely thanks to the Princess of Wales, who is a peacemaker.
“Camilla is also a conciliator and doesn’t nurse grievances. They both believe that supporting their husbands is a priority.”
Speaking after the Coronation, royal biographer Tom Bower said: “If you look at the Coronation footage, as the King and Queen leave the thrones and head for the exit of Westminster Abbey, you’ll see that everyone bows and curtsies to the King and no one moves a limb, a muscle, when Camilla passes.
“And that’s because they were angry with her. No one moves.”
He addd: “Kate and William were angry too. That anger went right through that small part of the congregation by the throne, at the centre of Westminster Abbey.”
