The mileage record of the legendary Nurburgring circuitin Germany, sees different results depending on the type of car: power supply, traction, homologation on the road or just the track are factors that affect the certification of the times and any records set on the 20.8 km of the German circuit.
Among the cars equipped with fully electric power and circulating on the street, the record has until recently belonged to Tesla with Model S Plaid, which last year marked a time of 7 minutes 35 seconds and 579 thousandths. Porsche managed to snatch a better result with a car Taycan Turbo S equipped with Performance Kitimproving the time of the American rival by just over 2 seconds.
The new record therefore drops to 7 minutes, 33 seconds and 350 thousandths, obtained thanks to the contribution made by the Performance Kit which can be purchased by any Porsche owner. Specifically, the car used is one Taycan Turbo S verson 2023in production from the end of July 2022, while the Performance Kit will be made available approximately at the end of 2022 only in combination with these 2023 model cars.
The Performance Kit will cost € 13,377.32, as communicated by the official website of the Nurburgring circuit with this press release. It includes new 21-inch diameter wheels, with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires specially developed for this car, together with a software update of the Porsche 4D Chassis Control that optimizes its operation with that of the new tires.
