Qualcomm announced its latest modem to support smart, intelligent and connected products. And the QCX216 LTE IoTa modem that promises greater computing power, connectivity and location-based technologies to pave the way for a new generation of IoT products “fast, powerful and high performance”.
It goes without saying that in 2022 the set of IoT products implies a large number of devices of the most disparate categories. Qualcomm therefore had to design QCX216 LTE keeping in mind many different needs, sometimes in conflict with each other. It was therefore necessary to intercept a compromise.
The performance are in fact of a good standard (10 Mbps in download, 5 Mbps in upload) but the focus was more on cost and on energy efficiency, then on consume content that winks at smart meters, trackers, electric mobility and micro mobility, parking meters, home automation and security, and other location-based solutions.
Cellular IoT is rapidly evolving to meet the diverse IoT requirements and use cases, and we are pursuing a rich roadmap of system innovations for the continued expansion of IoT,” said Jeffery Torrance, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Connected Smart Systems (CSS), Qualcomm. Our latest IoT modem is an exciting step forward in the proliferation of the cellular IoT ecosystem and will help create long-lasting, energy-efficient devices and promote the growth and expansion of the IoT industry.
Qualcomm QCX216 LTE IoT is a cost-optimized Cat.1bis dual SIM modem. Supports multi-technology scanning capability used in conjunction with features supported by Qualcomm Terrestrial Positioning Service to enable customers to develop applications at very low consumption for a variety of industries:“It will enable manufacturers to build affordable IoT devices in a small form factor”.
