It has not been possible to access the official website of
Energy Services Managerthe state company that deals with the promotion and development of renewable energy in Italy: the company was attacked over the weekend of 29 and 30 August and hit by ransomware and the attack was recently claimed by the hacker group BlackCat.
According to the hacker group I was about 700GB of data stolen. The site www.gse.it inaccessible from the attack as the company has decided to disconnect all systems as a protection countermeasure.
BlackCat shared some files and documents to prove that it actually carried out the attack and threatened to disclose all the documents it took if GSE does not agree to the payment of a ransom, the sum of which has not been disclosed. The BlackCat group collects the legacy of BlackMatter, itself already born from the ashes of DarkSide, a ransomware group known for the attack on the Colonial Pipeline in the USA last year.
Also last Wednesday ENI also confirmed unauthorized access to the internal networkalthough so far I do not know who the author is and no claims have yet been made.
