Rear-wheel drive Model Y arrives in Italy, and the cheapest Tesla of all

Tesla announced the availability in Europe and Italy of Model Y least expensive of all. It is the version with a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, so compared to the Model Y previously on the market it forces you to do without four-wheel drive. Not bad for those who do not have specific needs, because in this way the price of access to the range drops and not even slightly.

Compared to the latter there is also 1.9 seconds to renounce on 0-100 km / h (6.9 against 5 seconds) and 78 km of autonomy declared in the WLTP cycle (455 against 533 km), while the speed maximum remains of 217 km / h.

But the rear-wheel drive “neo Italian” is not only the cheapest Model Y in the range, but it is also the least expensive Tesla you can buy today. The Italian price list of Model 3 from which it derives it starts from 57,490 euros for the Standard Range with rear engine and drive, from 491 km of declared autonomy, 225 km / h of top speed and 6.1 seconds in 0-100 km / h. In the past months Model Y has often established itself as the best-selling electric in Europe, and the arrival of a variant worth 15 thousand euros less could ensure it the top of the charts for much longer.

Moreover, the rear-wheel drive Model Y is already well equipped: as standard, among other features, Autopilot, “premium” interior with heated steering wheel and seats both front and rear, audio system with 13 speakers, 1 subwoofer and 2 amplifiers. If you want to be behind the wheel of a Tesla spending as little as possible but without too many sacrifices, the choice is almost obligatory, and it is a rear-wheel drive Model Y. But we must be patient: ordering now the delivery is estimated between December and February 2023. Much? No, the timing is similar to that of the Performance and slightly higher than the Long Range. The Model 3 also has similar delivery times.
