Thus the Guarantor for the protection of personal data has activated the new telematic service through which users they will be able to report unwanted telemarketing calls to the authoritiesdespite the registration in the register through which any user in Italy can express his refusal to be disturbed.
What is the online form for
The new form that can be filled in online definitively replaces the reporting through the paper form and falls under a package of online procedures that the Guarantor is implementingin order to simplify the relationship with citizens and the obligations required of the owners of companies that promote their business.
By filling in the form it will therefore be possible for citizens to report the receipt of telemarketing calls made with automated systemsthe so-called robocallor directly by an operator. Each report may concern only one owner, of whom, however, even more telephone calls can be reported.
Users will be able to communicate to the authority the reception of the so-called silent phone callsthose during which the person contacted is not put in communication with any interlocutor, but is able to listen only ambient noise. The Guarantor explained that these phenomena derive from the systems used by the companies in the sector, which they generate a higher number of calls than available operators to manage them.
The authority’s invitation to citizens is to fill in the form with the utmost precision, since “the huge amount of reports” Sara processed in an automated way. For this reason, it will be impossible to enter generic information without detailed elements such as for example the phone number concerned, the subject of the promotion, the date and time of the call.
Finally, the Guarantor reminds that “the reports have the purpose of solicit a check by the Guarantor therefore they can be examined by the Authority, if necessary together with others of similar content, but they do not involve the mandatory adoption of a measure“.
The register of oppositions
This service represents yet another blow that the Privacy Guarantor imprints on unwanted telemarketing, only the latest in chronological order within a process that started last July 27 with the official route to the public register of oppositions, launched by the former Ministry of Economic Development and managed by Ugo Bordoni Foundation. Thanks to it, anyone can express your refusal to be disturbed not only from companies to which he has never given his consent, but also from those to which he had previously given it.
