Between Bluetooth headphones and true wireless stereo, for many the cable remains the only ‘true’ way to listen to music and various manufacturers continue to stimulate this philosophy with new products.
Sennheiser HD 660S2

In this case we are facing the second generation of a successful model and in the presence of Sennheiser HD 660S2. Sennheiser engineers have worked to optimize the performance of the headphones, with particular attention to low frequencies. The German technicians have optimized the solid foundation formed by the previous model, doubling the sound pressure at the lowest octaves. Based on the manufacturer’s statements, the lowest note of the piano (27.5 Hz) or the kick of the bass drum (45-60 Hz) may be perceived with a greater sense of reality.

The frequency response extended slightly, gaining 1Hz in the bass and dropping to 8Hz – 41,500Hz (against 9 Hz – 41,500 Hz of the previous model). The diameter of the transducers goes from 42mm to 38mmwith a slight contraction of the dimensions, accompanied however by a net increase of the impedance which passes from 150 to 300 ohms and which will therefore require better built DACs and amplifiers for good performance. To minimize distortion, the German engineers used a system of ventilated magnets and an ultra-light aluminum voice coil in the drivers.
As for the previous model (and similar ones like HD 650) the new Sennheiser HD 660S2 are open headphones, suitable for home listening and in silent contexts and which let out a certain portion of the reproduced sound, clearly audible by those next to us. As per Sennheiser tradition, these HD 660S2 also aim to fit like a glove on the users’ heads. Like the previous model, they stop the balance at 260 grams in weight.
Sennheiser HD 660S2: retail price

Designed in Germany and manufactured in Ireland, the new Sennheiser HD 660S2 are offered at a list price of 599100 higher than the previous model.
