We loved him in the role of the bikers in Sons of Anarchy and there was no lack of opportunities to see him protagonist in film productions (Murder in Los Angeles by Tim Kirkby is the most recent), but Charlie Hunnam will soon be starring in new original content on Apple TV +.

Shantaramthis is the title, it will be one TV series based on Gregory David Roberts’ bestselling novel of the same name whose preview arrival on Apple TV + is scheduled for Friday 14 October 2022. As often happens on Apple’s streaming service, on day one the first 3 episodes will be made available, then each new episode will arrive weekly on the following Friday until the finale of season, scheduled for December 16, 2022.

Shantaram will follow the story of a fugitive named Lin Ford (Charlie Hunnam) who finds himself by choice in the lively and chaotic Bombay of the 1980s. Apparently Lin will not arrive here by chance but with the specific goal of escaping some unspecified problems, and of course the choice will not be free from further complications. In his new life he will fall in love with an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla, who will bring further complications in his life. And for the moment we do not reveal anything else, but those who have read the book will already know what to expect.

In the cast we will also find other lesser known actors such as Shubham Saraf, Elektra Kilbey, Fayssal Bazzi, Luke Pasqualino, Antonia Desplat, Alyy Khan, Sujaya Dasgupta, Vincent Perez, David Field, Alexander Siddig, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, Elham Ehsas, Rachel Kamath, Matthew Joseph and Shiv Palekar. Steve Lightfoot is the showrunner, writer and producer, while Bharat Nalluri is the executive producer along with Andrea Barron, Nicole Clemens, Steve Golin, Justin Kurzel and Eric Warren Singer, who co-created the series with Lightfoot.

At the moment there are no further details, so we are waiting for a first trailer whose release could now arrive soon.
