Sky Glass, the new TV for entertainment has arrived | Info and Prices

Sky has clear ideas and with the officialization of Sky Glass it wants to reinvent the world of TV, providing a device capable of combining unique features, services, ease of use and, why not, aesthetic beauty. The new smart TV is designed to make the Sky world accessible to everyone together with that of partner services, such as Netflix, Disney +, Prime Video and Dazn. The goal is to provide an all-in-one device capable of also saving on consumption, a particularly hot topic in this historical moment of possible energy crisis.

Let’s start immediately with the technical characteristics, that is what is most interesting in the purchase of a smart TV, and then move on to services and finally to prices.

Sky Glass relies on a 4K Ultra HD Quantum Dot display capable of displaying over 1 billion colors and with 60Hz refresh rate, therefore suitable for pure multimedia use. It is offered in three different sizes that can adapt to any type of room, starting from the most compact 43-inch version, passing through the 55-inch medium version, up to the more impressive 65-inch model. Regarding the supported video technologies we find HDR 10, Dolby Vision and HLGwhile as regards the audio we find support for the Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital and Stereo 2.1 configuration.

The excellent sound performance and the different configurations are ensured by the presence at the base of a real soundbar equipped with 6 speakers, including also a subwoofer unit designed to enhance the sound with powerful bass. We then find 3 woofers for the front (2 side + central) that direct the sound upwards and two woofers, to close the configuration, which will direct the audio sideways and will be able to provide a very precise spatial audio, at least on paper.

To push this smart TV there a Quad Core ARM A55 processor, while as regards the connectivity part we find 3 HDMI 2.1 eARC inputs with CEC support, a USB-C port but dedicated only to charging and able to offer up to 15W, and finally the 10/100 ethernet for connection direct to the home router. There is also protocol support Bluetooth 5.0both normal and LE (Low Energy).

Further improvements are expected with the arrival of additional accessories, for example the new one 4K smart camerawhich will allow new ways of interaction, videocalls and other features not currently shared by the company.

It is worth noting that Sky Glass is the first CarbonNeutral certified television in the world by Climate Impact Partners. Energy saving is ensured primarily by the configuration of three devices in one (TV, Soundbar and decoder), also Sky Glass is able to go into standby automatically if not used and optimizes the brightness of the screen based on the light in the room. Finally, this smart TV comes in one-time, fully recyclable, plastic-free packaging.

This smart TV is dynamically customized and has been tailor-made for Sky subscribers, who will also be able to find all their favorite entertainment in their Playlist, ready to be seen at any time. Simply press the new “+” button on the remote control on the program you want to add. Furthermore, with the Restart function, those who return home after the show has already started can restart it with a simple click and watch it from the beginning. As anticipated at the beginning, all partner services such as Netflix, Disney +, Prime Video and Dazn are supported, through a simple and intuitive interface in line with that of Sky Q.

Another important news is that Sky Glass is a platform designed to be used through convenient voice controls: for example it will be enough to say “Hello Sky” and the TV will turn on automatically. And for those who want to watch Sky in more rooms of the house, by adding the Sky Multiscreen service to their subscription, it is possible to purchase Sky Stream, which allows you to enjoy the Sky Glass experience on any other compatible TV.

The 43 “model is offered at 697 euros, the 55” one at 995 euros e the 65 ”one at 1,293 euros. The colors available are Ocean Blue, Dusky Pink, Racing Green, Ceramic White and Anthracite Black.

By choosing the installment payment instead, you can buy the TV from 65 ”to 23.90 euros per month, the 55” TV for 17.90 euros per month and the 43 ”TV for 11.90 euros per month. The proposed prices include a total of 48 installments plus advance payment which varies according to the size, starting from 125 euros. Everything is available exclusively with the subscription to “Entertainment Plus” which includes Sky TV, with all the entertainment, series, Sky documentaries, plus Netflix, starting from € 19.90 per month for 18 months.

But there is a promotion at launch, thanks to which it is possible to have Sky Glass at a promotional price. For example, you can choose 43 ”Sky Glass, with payment in 48 installments, together with the Entertainment Plus subscription, all for only € 29.90 per month for the first 18 months.
