Although the difficulties in grabbing Valve’s new handheld console do not subside, the company recently said that production is proceeding non-stop and at an increased pace, so it is very likely that some orders, whose delivery was scheduled for the fourth quarter, can already be fulfilled during the current one. But that’s not the only news worth mentioning.
The company does know that has inaugurated repair centers for its consolethis means that those who do not want to rely on DIY will finally have an official solution to fix their Steam Deck in case there were any problems.
Of course all repairs for any damage covered by the Steam Deck warranty (which is one year in Italy) will be free, as Valve states on its official page (in SOURCE). If the device is out of warranty, the company will offer to repair it for a fee and those unwilling to pay this fee may refuse the repair and request that their Steam Deck console be returned. Today we are pleased to announce the opening of our Steam Deck Repair Centers. If you encounter a problem and need to repair or replace your Steam Deck, your device will now be sent to one of our repair centers. Once there, our team will diagnose the device and repair it if necessary, and then proceed to return the repaired unit.
Repairs due to warranty issues are free. If a sent Steam Deck is not covered under warranty, our team will contact you with the cost of the repair (if repair is possible). This out of warranty repair service is completely optional and you can request the return of the device.

As is evident from the official press release, Valve is very open to do-it-yourself repairs, in fact, a collaboration is in place with iFixit for the sale of each component of the Steam Deck, in such a way as to be able to proceed in complete autonomy in the event that if they had the skills. Of course, the hope is that you don’t need it, but knowing you have more chances is great news as always.
In the meantime, Valve has also confirmed that Steam Deck 2 will be done, a sign that the welcome for the first version was warmer than expected. Recall that Steam Deck is also on sale in Italy, with prices starting from 409 € based on storage memory.
