Harada explained that the animators of Tekken: Bloodline they are the same as in video games, a staff that was therefore already extremely familiar with the characters. To the animated version this factor is of great benefit: the action sequences they are deadly, very accurate, lightning fast, visually powerful and downright exciting. However, the entire first season is not enough to get used to the questionable decision to impose the absurd self shadowing triangular, planting it on the head of each character. Beyond this, the character design faithful (and very rude) and effective animation amply fulfill the demands of good technical quality. On the narrative side, the proud detractors of supernatural drifts will have to turn up their noses, especially because the transposition lingers in the storyline of the video game dedicated to the demonic presences that we, frankly, would have kept for the second season after a good cliffhanger.
For the followers of the saga, which among the myriad of mythical franchises is one of those to boast the timeline longer, Tekken: Bloodline it is placed chronologically at the height of Tekken 3. The story investigates Jin’s past, illustrating the tragic event that triggers his vengeful fury and persuades him to train hard to participate in the tournaments of the King of the Iron Fist, starting his career as a karate champion. The IP of Tekken it has a myriad of characters, human and superhuman warriors (and animals: who wouldn’t want a bear bodyguard as a friend?) experts in all possible martial arts, from wrestling to kung fu.
The first season (we expect others) unfortunately has only six episodes, with the result that the part dedicated to the competitive aspect of the tournament is too compressed and penalizes clashes. The characters appearing in the video game would have deserved more screen time to exhibit a myriad of signature shots. Paul Phoenix, Leroy Smith, Ogre, the wrestler in the King jaguar mask – protector of orphanages like the Tiger Man – are among the characters that can also be seen in the trailer, but there are many others who participate in the tournament or are mentioned. The brevity of the season, as mentioned, does not allow to get to know and become attached to unique and particular characters to the public that approaches the saga for the first time: a flaw that we are sure will remedy the second season.
