Tetris and the crazy story of its discovery in the Apple TV+ movie: here is the official trailer

In June 1984, Alexey Pazhitnov completed the code of Tetris, the video game that would have conquered the whole world by the end of the eighties. The credit for its success goes in part to Henk RogersDutch entrepreneur who secured the rights to publish Tetris on the first consoles: thanks to Rogers, Pazhitnov’s brilliant creation landed on the Game Boy Of Nintendo.

And yet, it seems that the history of Tetris has been much more ‘bizarre’ than we remember. Apple he therefore decided to tell us his ‘version’ of the success of Tetris in the homonymous film that sees the actor Taron Egerton (Rocketman, Kingsman) as Henk Rogers.

Tetris: the movie streaming on Apple TV+ from March 31st

“Based on true story about American video game representative Henk Rogers (Taron Egerton) and his discovery of Tetris in 1988. Intending to spread the game all over the world, will get into a dangerous web of lies and corruption behind the iron curtain”this is the synopsis of Tetristitle of the ‘biographical drama’ that the Cupertino company will distribute on Apple TV+ from 31 March.

The trailer was released a few hours ago and features a mustachioed Taron Egerton as the man “who risked his life to outwit the KGB and turn Tetris into a worldwide hit“. Judging by the pictures, the feature film written by Noah Pink – who will also executive produce – and directed by Jon S. Baird it definitely looks an over the top film.

The subject of the film is based on what is told in ‘Game Over: How Nintendo Conquered the World’a 1993 book in which the writer David Sheff chronicles the rise of the Japanese company – and in which it offers an interesting analysis of the history of the video game industry.

The film could not miss the father of Tetris, of course: Aleksej Pazhitnov is played by the Russian actor Nikita Efremov. In addition to the already mentioned Egerton, in the cast we also find Sofia Lebedeva, Anthony Boyle And Toby Jones. The feature film is produced by Marv Filmsa company founded by director and screenwriter Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class, Kingsman).
