We told you about it for the first time last year, when the first details of the cast of this production based on the anime and manga saga by Masami Kurumada emerged, which at the end of the 80s created the basis for several animated films, video games and lots of merchandising. Let’s talk about Saint Seiyathe saga better known by us as The Zodiac Knightswho finally shows up in the first official teaser trailer!
That the production was important was understood by the huge production efforts put in place and by the top-level cast. Any names? Sean BeanMadison Iseman Famke JanssenNick Stahl, Diego Tinoco and Mark Dacascos, as well as Mackenyu (son of the legendary Sonny Chiba) in the role of the main character, Seiya, who will become Pegasus.
As with all teasers, the details are very minimal, but from the first sequences we can glimpse the first clash between two armored knights, other war sequences and what could most likely be the Goddess Athena. And then the grand finale…with a first contact with Pegasus and his armor.
Before leaving you to the teaser trailer, we remind you that The new film de The Zodiac Knights will be made by Toei Animation in collaboration with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, which will also handle distribution in Europe, while Tomasz Baginski will be directing. For many this name will say nothing, but it is an animator originally from Poland and renowned for being a special effects guru, also known for working on the Netflix series, The Witcher. Finally, the screenplay will be entrusted to Matt Stuecken and Josh Campbell, known for having worked on 10 Cloverfield Lane.
No official release date yet, but 2023 will be the right year according to the first rumors. Will this film be able to match the charm of the comics? Similar precedents are not comforting (Dragon Ball Z teaches…), but hope is the last to die. While waiting for the official trailer, let’s enjoy the first teaser!
