The Mandalorian: the fourth season has already been written, word of Jon Favreau

Din Djarin’s next adventure could be just around the corner, as showrunner Jon Favreau teases that the fourth season of the show has already been planned and written. In a recent interview with French television network BFMTV, the director said that the story needed to be mapped out due to how the series is connected to other Star Wars projects, such as the upcoming Ahsoka spin-off. Here’s what Favreau had to say regarding the development of the next season of The Mandalorian:

Season 4? Yes, I already wrote it. We need to know where we’re going to tell a fully formed story. So, we had this planned, Dave [Filoni] and I. And then slowly write each episode. I started already during post-production (of S3), because everything has to feel like a continuation and a complete story.

Due to the high budget involved in producing The Mandalorian and with its lengthy shooting schedules it’s best to have a clear idea of ​​where the filmmakers want to go in order to continue producing episodes at an efficient pace.

In the meantime, the third season is imminent and we know that there will be important consequences for what happened previously, now that the weapon that belonged to Moff Gideon, the Dark Sword, has a new master.

The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito. Among the directors of the eight episodes of the third season are Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey and Bryce Dallas Howard. Jon Favreau is showrunner/head writer and executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck are executive producers.
