Numerous rumors continue to circulate about Samsung’s next top-of-the-range smartphones: we are referring to the new Galaxy S23, which will be officially presented on February 1st. Among the most awaited innovations of these models, certainly the adoption by the manufacturer of the latest processor made by Qualcomm, i.e. the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. In this regard, the Korean company, for years, has always used Qualcomm chips for smartphones sold in America and other markets, elsewhere, however, the same models were equipped with processors Exynos manufactured by Samsung itself.
A year ago, however, Samsung and Qualcomm signed an agreement that in a certain sense anticipated the news that all Galaxy S23s could count on Snapdragon processors. In this regard, an interesting piece of news has been circulating in the last few days (still to be confirmed): the chip mounted on the new Galaxy could be a “customized version”. In fact, according to the documentation collected by “9to5Google”the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 used in Samsung devices will be called “Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy”.
The chip will have clock speeds of up to 3.36GHz, while in the “traditional” version Qualcomm’s chip runs its primary X3 core at 3.2GHz.
In any case, this customized version of the processor should introduce the same features on the new Galaxy S23s that we will see on other smartphones that will adopt the chip – including the OnePlus 11 – only with some specific optimization.
