Around future Android smartphones, something is moving. In particular, Qualcomm has officially confirmed that it will take place in November “Snapdragon Summit 2022”, the event where the company presents its latest innovations. For example, last year it revealed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The event will take place from 15 to 17 November – in the past it was always held in December – at Hawaii, as has happened in recent years (with the exception of a small pause linked to COVID-19). As for what will be presented, the rumors have relaunched the hypothesis that the new flagship processor will be presented, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The chip, which will have as a model number “SM8550”should be made by TSMC with a 4nm manufacturing process. Additionally, it is rumored that the processor will use a particular CPU architecture 1 + 2 + 2 + 3 consisting of one Cortex-X3 core, two Cortex-A720 cores, two Cortex-A720 cores and three low-power Cortex-A510 cores. The new processor should integrate the Adreno 740 GPU.

Finally, other rumors re-launched in the past also referred to the possible 32-bit support of the Cortex-A710 cores. This choice, if confirmed, would be truly singular given that Google is significantly pushing app developers to ad abandon the 32 bits in favor of 64 bits.

Among the first devices to mount the new Qualcomm processor, the new Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro could stand out, which will be presented in November. The two devices, in addition to the unprecedented chip and ad Android 13, could also be equipped with a 2K display. We will have to wait to find out more technical specifications.
