There is one thing to say, that Google we always try to hide their tracks and not to do leak out nothing on his devices. This year then he played in advance, announcing the new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro at Google I / O so as not to have to hide them.
Then what can you do if some employee forget about prototypes around and these are sold on eBay or Facebook? The latest revelation on the new camera sensors smartphone and tablet of Google however, it is much more subtle and is the result of the constancy of Kuba Wojciechowskia Twitter user.

Wojciechowski has in fact sifted through the lines of codewhere the components and especially the sensors they were somehow hidden by Google so as not to allow it identification just by people like him. The leakerwhich is defined as one “data digger“compared the identification numbers of the sensors (ID) with the drivers present on GitHub and by doing so he not only managed to trace the names of the sensors of the entire new Pixel line, but also found an interesting confirmation of a third device not yet announced (perhaps Pixel Fold?).
These i sensors unearthed by Kuba Wojciechowski:
Camera sensors Pixel 7/7 Pro:
- principal: Samsung ISOCELL GN1
- ultrawide: Sony IMX381 UW
- Front camera: 11MP Samsung 3J1 with dual pixels, which should improve its quality and allow for semi-secure facial authentication.
As regards the two rear camerasare the same as the Pixel 6 and it is interesting to note that the new sensor for the front camera is the same between the two models, while for the Pixel 6 they were different.
Pixel 7 Pro:
- telephoto lens: Samsung ISOCELL GM1
The sensor has been changed compared to the Sony IMX586 last year and Wojciechowski notes how the move is curious, since the sensors have similar features and performancebut maybe it could be due to the need to have multiple sensors of the same manufacturer to obtain more consistent results in image processing.
Lynx – L10 – an alleged third high-end Pixel 2022 (test?):
- main camera: Samsung ISOCELL GN1, however this is where it ends
- secondary objective (maybe telephoto?): Sony IMX787
- front camera: Sony IMX712 13MP
The leaker note the second sensorof unknown purpose, and the front one (not yet announced) represent a novelty for Google, which typically uses older sensors. According to Wojciechowski this Lynx is not the Fold but an internal test device.
Pixel Tablet – T6:
- primary camera: Sony IMX355
- secondary camera: Sony IMX355
This is the same 8MP sensor of the Pixel 6’s front camerarecovered as a rear camera to cut costs.
P7 – code name of an unknown leaflet, probably “Pipit” or “Passport”:
- primary camera: Samsung GN1
- secondary or internal cameras: IMX363, IMX386 (ultrawide of the Pixel 6) – listed as “FOLDED”
- front camera: IMX355 (same front camera as Pixel 6).
The latter is certainly one of the more interesting revelationsas it gives voice to the Pixel Fold, the folding of Google, while there are no details on the ventilated Pixel 7 Ultra.
That’s all, but we hope to get more information to share with you shortly.
