For Volkswagen, the Golf is a very important model. As we know, the German manufacturer is already working on the restyling which, according to the CEO Thomas Schäfer to AutoBild, is intended to debut during 2024. No details have been added on the new features that will be introduced. However, according to what has been seen in some spy photos, in addition to some aesthetic tweaks, new interiors should arrive characterized by the presence of a large central display that recalls that of the models in the ID range.

Furthermore, yet another confirmation arrives that there will be one new generation of the Golf which, however, will only be electric. We had already talked about the fate of this model in the past. At first, it seemed that there was no future for the Golf. More recently, Volkswagen has decided to keep some of its most important models alive, such as the Golf, making them 100% electric. Now comes yet another confirmation from the CEO that the Golf will continue to live even if only in a battery version.

The future electric Golf will have nothing to do with the project of the Volkswagen ID.2. There are still no precise timings but the debut of the new battery-powered model is still a long way off. They consider that the restyling of the current, 8th generation will be on sale for at least 3 years, the 9th generation Golf is unlikely to debut before 2028.

Volkswagen rightly intends to keep the “Golf” name alive. This is a logical move given the successes that this car has achieved since its launch way back in 1974. Obviously, the new generation, electric Golf will be profoundly different from the current one.

However, there will be a way to find out more details on the project of the new electric Golf. Meanwhile, the German brand is focusing on the restyling that will arrive next year.
