On March 14, the Volkswagen Group will hold the company’s annual conference in which it will present, among other things, the details of the new five-year investment plan in which a lot of space will obviously be given to electrification and software development. According to reports from Automotive News Europe, the contents have already been brought forward on Friday to the supervisory board where they were discussed.
It will be about the first plan developed under the leadership of new CEO Oliver Blume after Herbert Diess left the Volkswagen Group last summer. Therefore, it will be very interesting to find out the contents of the new investment plan to understand what direction the German group will take in the coming years.
According to what emerged, the top management of the Volkswagen Group would have discussed on how to reorganize the production network to accelerate the transition to electric cars. Furthermore, there would also be a lot of discussion about the software strategy. As we know very well, the Volkswagen Group is facing various problems related to the development of the software which have also led to delays in the launch of new models.
It seems that the Group has also addressed the future of Trinity, the future electric “flagship” of the Volkswagen brand. In particular, the top management would have evaluated whether to build the car in a new factory as Diess wanted or within the current Wolfsburg plant. The top management of the Group would also discuss which new models to produce within the Hanover and Osnabrueck sites.
It will therefore be very important to find out the decisions taken by the top management of the Volkswagen Group. Since Blume became the new CEO of the Group, he has progressively begun to review Diess’ projects with the aim of simplifying the work. In fact, the previous CEO was also known for his extremely ambitious plans which had led him several times to clash with the top management of the German group.
