Volkswagen is working on the restyling of its electric ID.3. As we know, this new car will be officially presented next spring. Now, a forklift of the restyling model has been intercepted during a test session on snowy roads in Northern Europe. As we well know, the car manufacturers, in this period, are carrying out winter tests in the harsh climates of Northern European countries to put the mechanics of their new cars to the test.
THE RESTYLING
The new spy photos allow us to observe that the main aesthetic differences will be found above all at the level of the front with retouches to the bumper which integrates new air intakes. In the lower part there is a cover and therefore it is not clear what innovations Volkswagen may have introduced. In any case, these design tweaks partially follow the aesthetic innovations seen in the sketches that the German manufacturer had shared when talking about updating its electric car. But the restyling will not just refresh the look of the ID.3. In fact, Volkswagen had already anticipated that various innovations will arrive, especially in terms of technology and interiors.
New sustainable materials will be used for the cabin. In addition, the infotainment system will be able to count on a 12-inch display, against the current 10-inch one. There will also be one new software which can be updated over time via OTA. In addition, some tweaks will be made to the center console which will offer two cup holders.
As for the powertrain, Volkswagen has not yet made it known if there will be any significant news. However, we know that with the restyling the new ID.3 will be able to count on Plug & Charge support which offers the car the possibility of being able to recharge without using apps or cards from compatible columns (such as those of IONITY).
With the restyling, therefore, Volkswagen will introduce several new features for its ID.3. Further details will certainly emerge in the coming months as the debut is approaching. As far as marketing is concerned, Volkswagen had already announced that due to the high volume of requests from the ID.3, customers who order the new versions will only receive their new car from the fourth quarter of 2023.
