Wannathe new and discussed Italian original docu-series by Netflix dedicated to the most loved and hated TV saleswoman of the 80s and 90s will debut on September 21 on the streaming service.
Through testimonies and archive images, the docu-series consisting of 4 episodes I will deal with shed light on the events that occurred in our country in the era of Wanna Marchithe one who for over two decades was probably the most famous teleseller on Italian TV, together with her daughter who supported her for most of her career, Stefania Nobile.
It is in this context that the story that sees the two women protagonists develops, starting from the golden period of the conquest of the title of undisputed queen of telesales, up to the fall of their empire and the intricate period of judicial events. The docu-series tells, through the alternation of direct testimonies and archival material, the most well-known aspects but, above all, the lesser-known ones concerning this story and the overwhelming impact it had on viewers and the media.
The docu-series was developed thanks to 22 testimonies and about 60 hours of interviews, and images extracted from over 100 hours of archival materials were also used, which made it possible to reconstruct the facts in a factual and accurate way.
The aggressive style with which Wanna Marchi addresses the audience is the trademark of the shows in which it offers miraculous slimming creams. Throughout the 1980s, her image of her and her products went crazy, making her very rich and famous, together with her only true right hand, her daughter Stefania. The two go from success to the sensational fall of the early 90s, when the “Wanna Marchi empire” crumbles and throws them on the pavement. A disaster that triggers the desire for redemption in the two. After selling the illusion of perfect fitness, they will move on to marketing the one thing no one ever thought of selling: luck. Slimming and anti-wrinkle creams thus give way to amulets and blessed numbers sold together with the Master of life Do Nascimento. This amazing money machine would later turn out to be something else: a sensational scam, carried out thanks to an unsuspected accomplice, television.
The docu-series Wannaby Alessandro Garramone, is written by Alessandro Garramone and Davide Bandiera himself, while the direction was entrusted to Nicola Prosatore. Wanna it was produced by Gabriele Immirzi for Fremantle Italia.
As anticipated above, it will be available on Netflix starting from 21 September, but in the meantime we can watch a first teaser trailer.
