Xiaomi officially presented the new MIX Fold 2which as the name suggests represents the latest innovation of the Chinese company in the field of folding smartphones, responding to the official launch of the recent Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 presented in recent days and that we told you in the dedicated article.
The Chinese company points out that it is the thinnest among the foldable devices, with a thickness of 5.4 mm when opened and 11.2 mm when closed. A result that was possible by concentrating on the development of the junction hinge between the two parts of the phone, which Xiaomi calls “Micro Water Drop“and which is thinner and is able to better hide the crease of the display.
Staying on the subject of internal display, Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 offers an 8.02 inch OLED LTPO 2.0 panel with a resolution of 2160 x 1914 pixels with respectable features: 120Hz refresh rate, maximum luminance of 1300 candelas per square meter and DCI-P3 color space.
As for the external display, we find a 6.56-inch AMOLED-type element with a resolution of 2520×1080 pixels (21: 9), also here with a 120Hz refresh rate. The luminance of 1000 candelas per square meter and also support for Dolby Vision. The display also enjoys Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
Under the body we find a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1flanked by 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM memory. As for the storage space, it will be possible to choose three versions of 256GGB, 512GB or 1TB.
Interesting the photographic sector created in collaboration with Leica and which houses a 50-megapixel rear sensor with optical stabilization, alongside a 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens and an 8-megapixel 2x telephoto lens. 20 megapixel resolution instead for the front lens. The collaboration with the German photographic house does not only concern the development of lens-sensor systems, but also offers the Leica Authentic and Leica Vibrant shooting modes.
On the battery front we find a unit from 4500mAh which supports 67W fast charging with the possibility, according to what has been declared, to fully recharge the phone in just 40 minutes. A 10-minute recharge would instead allow you to gain 38% battery.
Currently Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 in pre-order for the Chinese market only. It is unclear whether the company intends to market its foldable, which would represent a fierce rival to the Galaxy Z Fold4, in other markets as well.
