Yeedi Vac Max closely remembers theEcovacs Ozmo 920one of the most suitable and appreciated robot vacuum cleaners by the general public, arrived on the market in full pandemic and able to meet the needs of many users.

Yeedi may be unknown to most, but it is a company born in 2019 from an offshoot of Ecovacs. The intent from the start was pretty clear. While Ecovacs has in fact conquered the highest end of the market with the new ones Deebot X1, Yeedi focuses on the lower-middle one. A well-chosen choice capable of giving a different identity to the two brands of household appliances and which allowed to differentiate the offer with different point devices and technical solutions.

COM MADE AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

It is useless to hide it, Yeedi Vac Max almost totally resumes the lines of the Ozmo 920 from which it inherits the market segment and main capabilities. 3000 Pa with regards to aspiration, 5200 mAh battery for 200 minutes of autonomy and a rotating brush. The central brush is the same, as are the tank and the washing cloth. This is good news, as spare parts are easily found.

Paying more attention, however, there are also some differences. The navigation system changes, no longer based on LIDAR laser, but on optical system with SLAM technology. This choice has positive and negative implications. On the one hand, the robot vacuum cleaner has auniform height of 75mm, which allows you to clean even under most furniture, suspended sanitary ware, beds and sofas. On the other hand, navigation is a little less precise, a little slower and above all, as indicated in the instructions, it needs light as Yeedi Vac Max may have some difficulty in identifying spaces and objects in a dark environment.

At the bottom there are then six fall arrest sensorsas on high-end robots, and a sensor for carpet detection and carpet, which allows the robot to increase the suction power if necessary.

Full technical specifications

  • Max suction power: 3000 Pa
  • Dust tank capacity: 430ml
  • Battery: 5200mAh
  • Mapping: VSLAM optics
  • Autonomy: about 200 minutes
  • Carpet sensor: present
  • Fall arrest sensors: 6
  • Washing tank capacity: 240ml
  • Voice control: Alexa
  • Application: Yeedi (iOS and Android)

CONFIGURATION AND APP

To make the best use of Yeedi Vac Max you need to download the appropriate application available for both Android and iOS devices. The robot is compatible with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks and the configuration is done in a few steps. Just follow the application instructions, have the robot’s eye read the QR Code and that’s it.

From the very first operations it is noted that the Yeedi app is very similar to that of Ecovacs, were it not for a choice of lighter colors tending towards aqua green. On the robot page we have the possibility to choose the suction power among the three available, choose whether to clean a specific area or the entire surface and manage the map by inserting virtual barriers if necessary, i.e. areas that the robot does not have to clean.

There are also some special options, such as the possibility of increasing the suction power if a carpet or intense dirt is identified, the do not disturb mode and even automatic emptying. In fact, it can be purchased as an option the basis for automatic emptying with a price of 199 euros (also identical in shape and design to the one sold by Ecovacs for its robots with a price list of 299 euros). You can obviously program the cleaning sessions at your favorite times, start the robot even remotely, or via voice commands and choose the water flow during washing.

CLEANING AND USE

Once cleaning has started, the robot begins its path following a serpentine. The mapping is quite accurate even if there is some uncertainty in the case of darker areas or in any case when the environment is not well lit. The carpet recognition sensor works very well. Once identified, the robot automatically increases the suction power to collect as much dirt as possible.

Yeedi Vac Max is also quite quiet, not only in the minimum suction mode, but also at maximum, when our detector has measured about 67dB of noise about a meter away. This translates into the possibility of being able to use the robot even while we are at home without causing excessive disturbance.

The single side brush and the simple center brush do not work wonders. The robot sucks up dust and small debris well, but struggles a little more with larger debris (pebbles, rice grains) and animal hair. In the latter case, it is very likely that long hairs (over 7 centimeters) wrap around the brush, forcing us to clean it using the special accessory supplied in the package. Cleaning times are in line with other tested robots, including high-end ones.

WASHING AND AUTONOMY

As for washing, Yeedi Vac Max is positioned in the mid-range. Apart from the possibility of being able to manage the flow of water on three levels, there are no particular options. The cloth is static and is simply rubbed on the surface and moistened continuously. The package includes several washable cloths that can be used on all surfaces.

The washing effectiveness remains good for about 15 square meters after which it would be better to replace the cloth which would otherwise collect excessive dirt. The capacity of the tank is instead sufficient even for large surfaces. After use in maximum mode, it empties by about half, thus not forcing the user to refill it after each use. Carpets are recognized and avoided when washing with precision.

The battery ensures excellent autonomy. We are about three hours using the lowest suction mode, considering that after forty minutes we measured about 30% of consumption with maximum suction and washing. In the event that the battery is not sufficient for a complete cleaning, the robot returns to the base to recharge and resumes from where it left off.

CONCLUSIONS: WHO SHOULD BUY IT?

Yeedi Vac Max is a robot vacuum cleaner very simple but still effective which focuses on the relationship between price and performance. Despite the list price of 349 euros, it is not difficult to find coupons and discounts directly during the purchase phase on Amazon that bring the price to about 239 euros.

The relationship between price and performance is very good already evaluating the price list but it is practically unbeatable if we consider the discounts. The closest alternatives are solutions like the Proscenic 850twhich however does not have a real mapping function, or the iRobot Roomba 692 which forgoes both mapping and washing, but has a double counter-rotating brush a little more effective with hair and animal hair.

A worthy spiritual heir, therefore, of the Ozmo 920, with battery and performance further improved to satisfy a very wide range of users who need a reliable robot to be used in apartments that are not too complex and with a washing function.
