YouTube and YT Kids more integrated than ever: what’s new on smart TVs and consoles

YouTube will integrate soon YouTube Kids within the app for smart TVs, game consoles and devices like Roku. The change was designed to simplify the user experience for families, allowing parents to manage all profiles in one place, i.e. the “main” YouTube app, thus having greater control over activities and viewing of everyone’s content.

YouTube Kids is a video streaming platform dedicated to children born in 2015 and arrived in Italy in 2018. As a separate app it is available on Samsung, LG Smart TVs, devices with Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Google TV devices.

To switch from your own profile to that of your children (therefore from YouTube to YouTube Kids) simply access the Account tab: from here you will be able to select the desired profile and switch to the Kids app with Parental control, content settings and already defined preferences.

For simplicity, we’ll now show your existing YouTube Kids profiles on the Account page of the YouTube app on smart TVs, streaming devices, and game consoles.

In case the kids are ready to make the switch to YouTube – maybe via Supervised Google accounta feature available in Beta for pre-teens – just delete profiles from families.youtube.com by selecting them and clicking on the three-dot menu.
