Ahmedabad: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday canceled the recognition of Delhi Public School (DPS) located nearby here for violating government norms by leasing land for controversial self-styled godman Swami Nityananda’s ashram.

In an order, CBSE said that a report given by the Gujarat government stated that the school located in Hirapur outside Ahmedabad obtained the accreditation of CBSE through a ‘fake NOC’. Based on this report, the school’s recognition is ‘cancelled with immediate effect’.

The board allowed students of class 10th and 12th to appear in the 2020 board exams and transfer of students of class 9th and 11th to nearby CBSE affiliated schools.

The order said that the school has also stated that the land given to the religious institution is not a part of the school premises. This statement is contrary to the findings of the State Education Department.
