The DC vs Vampires series has been a grisly ride from its very inception, and several key scenes have demonstrated that even heroes that aren’t Superman or Batman are capable of taking down the entire Justice League. More specifically, the Green Lantern Hal Jordan was able to completely dismantle the Justice League’s greatest powerhouses in just a matter of days.

The story of DC vs Vampires begins when a vampire named Andrew Bennett arrives at the Justice League’s headquarters in a frenzied panic. He is met by Hal Jordan and one of the Wonder Twins, and is quickly rushed to medical care to treat his extensive sunburns from being outside for extended periods of time. While there, Bennett reveals to Green Lantern and the Wonder Twin Zan that there is a vampiric coup taking place due to the murder of their queen and that the culprit likely just killed the entire Legion of Doom. Upon hearing this news, Green Lantern reveals that he is a vampire, trapping Zan in a blender and turning him into a blood smoothie before generating UV rays to completely disintegrate Andrew Bennett.

Over the next few days, Hal Jordan meticulously plots to turn or eliminate the rest of the Justice League’s main members before the vampire invasion is made public. One of his first victims is one of the most powerful members of the Justice League: The Flash. In DC vs Vampires #2 by James Tynion IV, Matthew Rosenberg, and Otto Schmidt, Hal calls Barry Allen to an isolated island under the guise of just talking, then manages to trap the fastest man alive in a prison of pure willpower by taking his feet off the ground. Hal explains to Barry that with his metabolism and speed, there’s no feasible way he could be turned without drinking the world dry. The next morning the rest of the Justice League finds Barry’s corpse on the beach after they’d tracked down his location. That same night, Wonder Woman confides in Hal as they grieve over Barry’s death. Again, Hal manages to get the jump on her and this time uses the vampiric power of hypnotism to stun her for long enough to be turned. In only two days, Hal Jordan took out two of the Justice Leagues’ most powerful heroes.

The carnage doesn’t end there, however, as Hal then frames Batman for the murder of The Flash. With Wonder Woman also secretly turned into a vampire, Hal convinces the rest of the Justice League to storm the Batcave and arrest Batman under false pretenses. When tensions rise and Superman is knocked unconscious by a dose of Batman’s Kryptonite gas, he too is left helpless to Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. From there on out, the vampire invasion is made public and the rest of the Justice League is either turned, killed, or left in hiding. This sequence of events proves that Green Lantern has the means to dispose of the entire League if he chose to, picking off each member one at a time with a weapon that leaves no traces behind. Green Lantern’s ability to create a perfectly devised trap, as well as paralyze opponents much physically stronger than him gives him the means to accomplish what very few heroes or villains could even dream of.

Green Lantern is one of the Justice League’s strongest superheroes, and he proved that it’s not just Batman or Superman who are capable of dismantling the world’s most powerful protectors. It remains to be seen what fate has befallen the other Lanterns in DC vs Vampires, but it’s clear that if the power of another were to fall into the hands of the vampires, the remaining survivors would be all but doomed.
