Farah Karim, the veteran freedom fighter and longtime ally of the Task Force 141 special ops unit, is making her return in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 as a playable Operator in online multiplayer. A key protagonist in the controversial campaign of 2019’s rebooted Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Farah joins the sequel as a playable Operator for Modern Warfare 2’s SpecGru faction, a private military company representing the game’s protagonists in online multiplayer modes. Unlike the process for unlocking Modern Warfare 2’s Burger Town Operator, unlocking Farah as a playable Operator is a little less tricky, if considerably more costly.
Operators in Modern Warfare 2 are playable characters players can use in the game’s spec ops and multiplayer modes, as well as in the upcoming Warzone 2.0 battle royale experience. Most are unlocked through gameplay by completing specific challenges in the campaign, co-op, or multiplayer modes. Others can be bought as part of skin bundles or, as with Modern Warfare 2’s Oni Operator, are exclusive to certain platforms such as PlayStation. While their appearances are merely cosmetic and don’t provide gameplay benefits, many Modern Warfare 2 players will still want to play as fan-favorite characters such as Soap, Captain Price, and Ghost. Unfortunately, as with these fan favorites, unlocking Farah requires players to spend money.
How To Unlock The Farah Operator In Modern Warfare 2
Farah is included in Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer at launch for players who’ve purchased the premium Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 2. This game edition features lots of content, including Season 1 Battle Pass access and tier skips, cosmetic bundles including one for Ghost, and double XP tokens. Additionally, Farah specifically is included as part of the Red Team 141 Operator Pack along with her fellow soldiers Ghost, Captain Price, and Soap.
The Vault Edition is currently being sold for $99.99 in the US, with regional pricing roughly equivalent, so unlocking Farah will cost players a tidy sum. Unfortunately, this appears to be the only way to unlock Farah in Modern Warfare 2 at the moment. The price likely makes it a tough sell to most players, many of whom are already angered by Modern Warfare 2’s PlayStation-exclusive benefits.
The price of the Vault Edition will likely decrease over time and gradually become more affordable, although it’s unlikely this will happen quickly due to the game’s popularity. It’s also worth noting that this doesn’t necessarily mean Farah won’t be unlockable by other means in the future. For example, 2019’s Modern Warfare featured a near-constant stream of new cosmetic bundles for existing Operators, allowing players to unlock certain Operators for a relatively low price. However, this is far from guaranteed. Modern Warfare 2’s developers may well keep Farah in the Red Team 141 pack as an exclusive bonus for Vault Edition owners and leaving her out of future Modern Warfare 2 DLC.
