A cable with a 90 degree end to power the RTX 4090 where there is little space

The video cards I am more and more powerful but also more bulky because they are equipped with large cooling systems. Featuring thicknesses that take up even more than three PCIe slots, high-end GPUs like the latest GeForce RTX 4090 are so wide that in some houses the free space with respect to the side bulkhead becomes very limited.

It’s a problem, because it is right on the side that we find the connector to which to connect the power cables. In the case of the GeForce RTX 4090 we are talking about the high-power connector 12VHPWR (with 12 + 4 pins), to which you connect – in theory – a single power cable coming from the ATX 3.0 power supplies. More often, at least at the moment, however, it is necessary to connect an adapter to connect to old PSUs with 8-pin cables.

A good rule dictates, but in this case even more so given the powers at stake, which it would be better not to find yourself bending the cables too much power supply, especially at the connection connector, creating useless mechanical stress that could lead to breakages and various types of malfunctions.

And it is precisely to avoid such situations that CableMod has unveiled a cable with a 90 degree 12VHPWR connector designed to prevent the situation described from occurring, while ensuring a more elegant and clean solution to power your video cards.

Thanks to this solution, the power cable protrudes only 23.2 mm from the video card, thus allowing connection even where there is little space between the GPU and the side bulkhead. The CableMod proposal is available in two configurations so that connection is possible regardless of the orientation of the 12VHPWR port on the GPU. CableMod hasn’t revealed what the price of this 90-degree 12VHPWR adapter will be, but the presale will start on October 31 at this address.
