Android Auto, growing reports of problems with Google Assistant

The update to Android 13 does not seem to have been particularly welcome to Android Auto, despite helping to re-establish hands-free calling on the Pixels. Some users have encountered some problems with Google Assistant after updating the smartphone to the latest version of the operating system from Google. Fortunately, Android Auto is still usable, but it seems to go crazy when you invoke the assistant with voice commands.

The icon bar on the right is emptied as in the image when the assistant is called up, only to return to its place after a few seconds. Google Assistant not working, and to some it doesn’t even go by trying to recall it with any physical key on the car. The problem is increasingly widespread as Android 13 is available on more smartphones, and it does not differentiate between manufacturers, whether Google, Samsung, Sony or Redmi.

Google hasn’t commented on it yet. It seems that the problem may be caused by one Google app version and not from Android 13, since some have managed to use Google Assistant correctly for a certain period after updating their smartphone to Android 13. And it cannot be excluded either that the troubles are not caused by a precise version of Android Auto: Someone says they noticed the problem after upgrading to 8.5.6.

In short, from the outside the cause seems quite uncertain, so Google would do well to investigate and it may already be doing so. It is not the only problem of the period: someone, still a small number of users to tell the truth, says that at any moment the system stopped reading messages aloudbut this is a problem that emerges cyclically in the daily Android Auto.
