Bored Ape Yacht Club, which is debatably the top NFT collection, have just hit 1 million followers on Twitter. It is the primary social platform for NFT and cryptocurrency news and conversation. They are the first NFT collection to do this, cementing their place as the top collection in the space. To compare, CryptoPunks have 245,000 followers.

Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Journey
Bored Ape Yacht Club are a 10,000-piece NFT collection created by the company, Yuga Labs, which also recently bought Cryptopunks.
In December 2021, Bored Ape Yacht Club overtook the floor price of Cryptopunks, 60 ETH, on OpenSea. This event was known as ‘the flipping’. Since then, they haven’t looked back, further innovating to cement the top spot in NFTs, as proven by their 1 million follower feat.
Nowadays, it seems like every celebrity or brand owns a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT. To name a few, you have Steph Curry, Mark Cuban, Snoop Dogg and most recently Major League Soccer who just “signed” one NFT from the collection.
Beyond NFTs, Yuga Labs on behalf of Bored Ape Yacht Club are hosting events, creating merchandise, and building metaverse platforms.
Post-1 million growth
After hitting 1 million followers, they have so much more potential for growth. However, it was pointed out that 15.6k people are remaining active in the NFT scene, as that is the number of people who joined the Bored Ape Yacht Club Twitter Spaces celebrating their 1 million follower feat. Of course, with lower prices due to a bear market, people may become less interested in NFTs in general, and it’s nothing on Bored Ape Yacht Club as a brand.
NFTs on Twitter
Twitter is the social media home for NFTs, alongside Discord and Telegram, but Twitter undoubtedly takes the crown.
Many brands have built their name through the platform, and of course, BAYC has reached 1 million followers. Compartiavely, RTFKT Studios have 366,000 followers, Cryptopunks have 245,000 followers and Moonbirds have 206,000 followers.
