Lately those who drive electric cars are fighting against the choice, absolutely understandableof various companies to remove the possibility to charge your car for free.

Not only small shopkeepersbut also large supermarket chains they had to resort to extreme measures against whom took advantage of it excessively of the service offered, not having perhaps foresight and good education to give something in return, like shopping while the car is charging.

Some weeks ago even those who have traveled along the A22 Modena Brennero encountered some inconvenience due to the fact that, in parking areas equipped with recharging points, only one column out of two was usable.

The columns of the company they are free, always functional and do not require any card or registrationreasons why the service offered by the A22 is enormously appreciated and known among those who drive battery-powered cars, who know they can travel calm and without any anxiety from recharge along the highway that from Emilia Romagna reaches the border with Austria.

In order to escape any doubt regarding the future of the charging points available along the motorway surface, we contacted the company directly, receiving clear and comprehensive answers.

A22 reaffirmed its support towards sustainable mobility, both electric and hydrogen.

As the adoption of zero-emission vehicles grows, the company says, charging points will also be implementedwith columns of different power (from 22 kW AC to 150 kW DC), which will remain free along the entire road surface. The temporary non-use of some stalls was due to normal works maintenance operations.

The electricity to power them, as well as that necessary for the first – and currently the only – center for the production and distribution of green hydrogen in Italy, located in south Bolzano – and always will be – made from renewable sources.

With regard to the diffusion of this zero-emission mobility, Autostrada del Brennero will carry out 5 new green hydrogen distribution centers which, due to demand, will also become production centers.

The electricity required both for the distributors and for the recharging points will be obtained from renewable sources more suitable for the area: from biomass to wind energy.

With regard, however, to the columns outside the motorway section (ed, Bressanone/Val Pusteria, Rovereto South and Mantua North) the service will be always present and guaranteedbut for a fee, with a controlled price of 0.46 euro/kWh for AC columns and 0.58 euro/kWh for DC stalls.

Again the charging mode follows the philosophy of simplicity and ease of use of free columns: payment will be made through debit or credit cardwithout any need to download and register your profile on an app.

Only if you want to receive the receipt, or the invoice, relating to the amount spent, will it be necessary to type your telephone number on the appropriate keyboard, receiving the tax document via SMS.

In order to avoid, in the future, the recurrence of unpleasant situations such as the stall occupied beyond the time necessary for recharging, the company has foreseen the application of a surcharge for each minute of parking with a charged battery.

Stay Affi’s stall is freedespite being outside the toll booth, located exactly next to the Tesla Superchargers.

The latter was recently expanded, perhaps in anticipation of an imminent opening also to cars outside the US brand.

At the moment no partnership is foreseen between the motorway company and electronic toll service providers, in order to protect those who are travelling.
