The new Chromecast with Google TV HDthe TV box that BigG is preparing to launch on the market, probably from 6 October together with Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch, is already on sale in some European stores, but the price is too high.
The news was in the air, since it seems that in the US the new Chromecast with Google TV HD will be sold for around $ 40. For now, the figures arriving from Germany are orbiting around 45-50 eurosand although it is an unofficial product, and therefore the prices cannot be taken as definitive, we have no particular reason to doubt that more or less the figures will be those.
The original Chromecast with Google TV still costs today, on the official store, 69.99 eurosa price that is not at all competitive with respect to the various Fire TV Stickwhile the old Chromecast without Android TV it still costs 39 euros; therefore, an estimate of 45-50 euros for the new dongle is basically realistic.
We remind you that the new Chromecast with Google TV HD differs from the previous model because it does not go beyond the resolution 1080p; also it should be equipped with 1.5 GB of RAMcompared to 2 GB of its predecessor and a processor Amlogic S805X2, which does support the AV1 codec, but is less powerful than the previous one. It goes without saying that the storage space will also always be from 8 GB (impossible that it is less, due to usability problems, but at the same time also that it has increased).
With these characteristics, and this price, it will be difficult to recommend the Google dongle compared to those of Amazon, especially considering that the Fire TV Stick 4K is often on offer at 34 € (not now). In any case we will see, since there is still nothing official, but certainly the premises they do not let us hope for an aggressive pricewhich is often (sadly) the main factor that really sets these TV boxes apart from each other.
