The latest generation cars have increasingly advanced technological solutions so much so that we often talk about computer on 4 wheels. All this technology and the connectivity systems that allow cars to access the Internet or be managed remotely through apps, can also represent a risk from an IT security point of view.

On the topic of cybersecurity applied to the automotive industry, the news arrives that NTT DATE announced the birth in Italy of the Global Automotive Security Test Center. Specifically, it is a center in which it will be possible to carry out safety tests on connected cars with a focus on protection from cyber attacks.

The connected vehicle market represents a field where it is increasingly necessary to guarantee security and defense against exposure to cyber attacks. NTT DATA’s new Center aims to respond to ever-changing cyber threats by working closely with customers. Marco GarelliHead of Automotive at NTT DATA Italia, explains:

We want to apply our skills gained in the world of cybersecurity to the connected cars sector. Thanks to our Global Automotive Security Test Center, NTT DATA becomes an international point of reference for protecting connected cars from Cyber attacks and guaranteeing driver safety.

According to reports, the first project of this new center was carried out in collaboration with Marelli and C2A Security. Project which involved, among other things, the anomaly detection of the communication between the control units. An innovative system was used for the tests as artificial intelligence algorithms were exploited which are able to identify any attacks in progress and send alarms to a control center (Vehicle Security Operation Center) which can promptly intervene.
