With this, CSK registered their first win in the tournament. In a match that went till the last over, the yellow brigade bowlers held their never to eke out a nervy win in a high-scoring thriller.

Kyle Mayers and KL Rahul forged a brilliant 79-run opening stand off 35 balls to give LSG a good start in chase of 218.

Mayers was particularly severe on the CSK bowlers as he smashed a 22-ball 53 – his second consecutive half-century to give a rollicking start. However, the introduction of spin saw Chennai pull things back with Moeen Ali dismissing the opener and then removing Rahul and Krunal Pandya.

Moeen proved his exceptional spin bowling skills by castling Marcus Stoinis to pick his fourth wicket and shift the momentum in Chennai’s favour.

However, Ravi Bishnoi applied brakes on the batting by removing Ruturaj as Conway soon persihed. Moeen Ali and Shivam Dubey joined hands with the latter playing a cameo to keep drive CSK.

Bishnoi picked three wickets but Ambati Rayudu with a 14-ball 27 took the attack to the opposition with Chennai with MS Dhoni smashing a couple of sixes to become the seventh player to enter the 5000-run club in the IPL.
