For the European car marketthe month of November 2022 closed positively. This is the fourth consecutive positive month after a year with only minus signs. Going into the details communicated by ACEA last month, at European Union level, they are 829,527 cars were registeredequal to a growth of 16.3% on 2021 (713,273 registrations).

If we also want to consider the United Kingdom and the EFTA countries, 1,014,630 cars were registered against 864,046 in 2021. This is a growth of 17.4%. However, we are still a long way from the numbers of 2019 (the year before the outbreak of the pandemic) when the European Union (including the United Kingdom) and EFTA countries recorded a total of 1,210,860 registrations.


Despite the recovery of the last period, on 2022as a whole, continue to be negative. In fact, at the European Union level, the first 11 months of the year recorded a drop of 6.1% compared to 2021. Considering the United Kingdom and the EFTA countries, we are at -5.8%.

Returning to the month of November, the ACEA report highlights that most of the European Union’s auto markets closed the month with growth. Among the 4 main markets, the most important increase was observed in Germany (+31.4%). Followed by Italy (+14.7%), Spain (+10.3%) and France (+9.8%).

In the first 11 months of the year, among the four main markets of the European Union, theItaly recorded the worst result (-11.6%), followed by France (-8.7%), Spain (-4.4%) and Germany (-2.4%).


However, as regards i Automotive groups, at the European Union level, in November 2022 the Volkswagen Group closed with a growth of 36.4%. Instead, Stellantis finished the month down 1.1%. For the Renault Group, the month of November closed with a growth of 2.1%.

There are only two weeks left until the end of 2022, a particularly complex year for the automotive market. Therefore, it will soon be possible to sum up the performance of the year.
