In an interview with Total Film (via GamesRadar), Momoa opened up about his experience on the set of Fast X. He recalled the thrill of being able to do many of his own driving stunts, which came as a bit of a surprise given his newness to the franchise. Stunts are a huge part of the Fast & Furious franchise, with each film pushing the boundaries further with how wild the stunts are, making Momoa’s excitement understandable. Check out his statement below:

This is full adrenaline… It rules. Riding around cobblestone streets in Rome that have centuries of wear, so when you stop, you slide… One of our producers was like, ‘We’re letting him drive through Rome like that?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, man!’

Who Is Jason Momoa Playing In Fast X?

It is interesting to hear some behind-the-scenes details from Momoa, considering the hype surrounding his Fast X debut. Ever since he was first cast in the film in early 2022, there’s been speculation about who he would be playing. It was reported early on that he would be a villain with a personal vendetta against Toretta, but few predicted his close connection to Fast Five. In Fast X, Momoa will portray Dante Reyes, the son of Fast Five‘s main villain, the drug lord Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida).

In Fast Five, Reyes is a ruthless drug lord and shady businessman who Dom and the gang decide to rob of the $100 million fortune that he made in the criminal underworld. However, their mission doesn’t go as smoothly as anticipated, and Reyes is killed in the process. While it was Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs who ultimately killed Reyes, Toretta injured him and made him vulnerable to Hobbs’ wrath. Meanwhile, since Johnson opted not to return for Fast X, Toretta and his family will be the main characters that Dante targets to avenge his father’s death.

So far, Dante has been described as a ruthless, brutal, and sadistic villain. His sadistic nature has been teased several times already, including in the trailer when he is seen licking blood off of a knife. Also, as Michelle Rodriguez praised Momoa’s Dante, she described him as “revenge with a smirk.” She also hailed him as the best male villain the franchise has ever had, though he may not have eclipsed Theron’s villain Cipher. With Dante and Cipher joining forces in the film, though, Toretta definitely has an extremely lethal duo on his tracks. It remains to be seen how audiences and critics will respond to Dante in Fast X, but he and his co-stars have expressed excitement for his debut.
