The presentation of Ford’s new electric SUV made on MEB platform of the Volkswagen Group is getting closer. The appointment for the launch of this new model is set for March 21st. The news comes directly from Martin Sandergeneral manager of Ford Model and Europe, who through a tweet communicated the date for the presentation of the new car.

Therefore, in less than a month we will finally be able to discover all the secrets of this model on which Ford is betting a lot for its electrification plan in Europe.

The automaker has provided, for the moment, few details on this electric model. However, in recent times some spy photos of forklifts intent on carrying out road tests have emerged which have allowed us to get an initial idea of the shapes of this new car. Apparently, the SUV will feature boxy shapes with a high nose and a fairly short bonnet made possible by the absence of a traditional internal combustion engine. On the technical front, the manufacturer had only limited itself to stating that the car can be counted on a range of up to 500 km.

Although no details on the powertrain have been anticipated, the use of the MEB platform suggests that Ford’s electric SUV may have the same units and batteries that we find, for example, on the Volkswagen ID.4. In less than a month, however, we will finally be able to discover these details as well.

Ford will not limit itself to using the MEB platform only for this model. Indeed, in 2024 the house of the blue oval will present another car. Next, the automaker will develop electric cars using its own dedicated platform that it is currently working on.

Ford’s two new electric models on the MEB platform will be built at the Ford plant in Cologne.
