The Gran Turismo film ends an important stage (or perhaps given the context it is more correct to say “lap”?) important: filming has been completed. The two main stuntmen Ollie Millroy and Mauro Calo confirmed it by sharing some images of the final day on Twitter. We offer them below:
The film, remember, will be released next summer. At the helm of the project is Neill Blomkamp, who has directed a few but significant films – we mention in particular District 9, Chappie (Humandroid) and Elysium. Principal photography on the adaptation of Sony’s legendary racing franchise began last month in Hungary. The team has been on “set” (say: around the world) for seven weeks. The statements of the stuntmen suggest that the action will be decidedly agitated and frenetic.
The film will be inspired by true events, and will tell the story of a teenager who uses racing games to learn how to become a real-life driver. The screenplay is penned by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin; the cast includes:
- Archie Madekwe
- David Harbour
- Orlando Bloom
- Darren Barnet
- Djimon Hounsou
- Geri Halliwell
- Daniel Puig
- Josha Stradowski
- Thomas Kretschmann
- Emelia Hartford
