Two women died while several others sustained injuries after a bus carrying about 50 passengers fell into a gorge at Malegam Ghat of Dang district in Gujarat on Saturday night.

SURAT: Two women died while several others sustained injuries after a bus carrying about 50 passengers fell into a gorge at Malegam Ghat of Dang district in Gujarat on Saturday night.
The bus was heading to Saputara hill station from Surat.
The bodies of the deceased women have been shifted to the nearest health centre at Shamgahan village. The deceased are yet to be identified.
The driver of the bus is critical and the injured are being treated at a health centre in Shamgahan.
The accident occurred about 7km away from Shamgahan village.
The road to Malegaon Ghat passes through forest and hilly areas of Dang.
The search and rescue operation was affected due to the rain, officials said.
The bus was part of a fleet of five buses which was carrying a Garba classes group from Honey Park Road in Adajan.
All the five buses were carrying mostely women and children.
“Upon receiving the information from locals, I instructed officers to start rescue operation and provide treatment to the injured. Teams of doctors are reaching the nearest health centre and the district administration is carrying out a rescue operation,” said Purnesh Modi, minister of road and building department.
