AGRA: Two applications were filed in the court of civil judge (senior division) in Mathura on Friday seeking appointment of an advocate commissioner to carry out an inspection of the Shahi Idgah masjid adjoining Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi to confirm the “existence of Hindu artefacts and ancient religious inscriptions on the mosque premises”. The court fixed the next date for hearing on July 1.
This comes a month after a Varanasi court appointed advocate commissioner Ajay Kumar Misra for a video survey of the Gyanvapi mosque that is adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple and directed him to submit a report.
Incidentally, the Gyanvapi mosque case reached the Supreme Court on Friday with an urgent plea being filed that demanded a stay on the local court’s order.
One of the petitioners of the Shahi Idgah application in Mathura is Narayani Sena national president, Manish Yadav, who had earlier filed a petition in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad HC for early disposal of the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah Masjid cases.
Yadav said that since the HC ordered disposal of all cases related to the “disputed site” within four months, he moved a fresh application in court demanding an assessment on the lines of the Gyanvapi survey. In his application, Yadav claimed that “religious artefacts, ancient inscriptions and mythological evidence related to the Hindu religion exist on the Idgah premises and the same has been concealed there. These facts need to be presented before the court.”
