News coming soon for Surface Duo owners. Microsoft, in fact, has revealed some interesting details on the version of Android 12L designed for its device. Among the most striking details, certainly the introduction of the new design that is somewhat reminiscent of the “Fluent” design language of Windows 11 as well as the updated notification panel. There are also new blur effects and the “Settings” app completely redesigned thanks to the presence of icons in full Windows 11 style. This version, among other things, also includes the new color system typical of Android 12.
For the company – which has been working on this update since last March – this is the first time it has applied its language to the Android operating system. The goal is always to present the Surface Duo as an extension of Windows PCs, while being equipped with Google software. As for the release timing, an update launch date has not yet been provided (which will likely be available for both Surface Duo 1 and Surface Duo 2).
Finally, on the news from Microsoft, the company has just presented a new Surface Pro 9, a Surface Laptop 5 and a Surface Studio 2+. In addition, it has also unveiled an unpublished Audio Dock and a Teams remote control. On the other hand, there is no information about a new Surface Duo model. However, it’s not hard for the company to release another Duo by the end of next year. In any case, the wait for the release of Android 12L is quite high since the device, since its debut, has not convinced very much in terms of software optimization.
