Avatar: The way of waterlong awaited sequel to the spectacular Avatarwill land in cinemas on December 14, thirteen years after the first chapter. And like the latter, it will be written, directed, produced and edited by James Cameron, one of the most important directors on the world cinema scene from the 1980s to today. Cameron was born in Canada on August 16 1954 and today he turns 68, a good part of which I spent creating a handful of films – not even a dozen as a director, a little more as a screenwriter or otherwise – seminal both for the critical scene, both for box office feedback, and for resonance in popular culture. This birthday and the upcoming release of Avatar 2 we celebrate them with a ranking of his films as a director (so no screenwriting work like Strange Days And Alita – The angel of battle, nor will series and documentaries appear on this list).
