Juan Pablo Galavis made a huge claim against The Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss after the latter’s recent departure from the ABC franchise. The producer stunned Bachelor Nation when he announced that he would be stepping down as the showrunner. Mike attempted to make his departure appear like it was on good times, including thanking Claire Freeland, Jason Ehrlich, and Bennett Graebner, the new showrunners who are replacing him.
However, it turns out Mike is reportedly leaving under circumstances revolving around an investigation into his behavior, including allegations of racial discrimination. Under an Instagram post made by Variety, which was the original source of the allegations, The Bachelor‘s Juan Pablo commented with his opinion on the matter.
Juan alleged, “I KNEW it from day ONE, it was a matter of TIME, Chris [Harrison’s] MOUTH got him FIRST, but Mike was the MASTERMIND behind everything.” Juan accused Mike of “racism, bullying and creating a disrespectful work environment.” Juan was a contestant in The Bachelorette season 9, where he was eliminated in week six before being chosen as the first Latino lead of The Bachelor
Juan Pablo Hopes The Bachelor Features ‘True Love Stories’
As someone who came on the show and made some waves by being the first lead with a minority heritage, Juan did pave the way for a lot of good things within the Bachelor franchise, despite him being fairly disliked. He is more low-key now and less in the spotlight than before, but many former Bachelor and Bachelorette stars continue to express their opinions on the show. Juan also added, “NOW the show will have TRUE love stories RESPECTING beliefs and how each CULTURE express LOVE.” Mike reportedly shut down ideas revolving around diversity on Bachelor Nation shows when he was in charge.
There have been a lot of similar reactions to Juan’s comment online in the wake of Mike’s departure. Like Juan indicated, it didn’t seem like Mike was very well-liked for many different reasons. While Juan was just a player during his season and he was criticized for the way he handled being the lead, Mike has been accused of many heinous acts over the years, from allegedly abusing his pregnant wife to the accusations of racism behind the scenes of all the Bachelor shows.
Hopefully, Juan is right about The Bachelor and its other spin-offs having a better future going forward than they had with Mike in charge. No one deserves to become a part of something where the people at the top show disrespect because it is going to simply trickle down to anyone else who has some sort of power in that same environment. Maybe Juan is right about Chris being influenced by Mike as the mastermind of all the alleged wrongful things that took place behind the scenes as well as on camera.
