In just over two weeks Mario Kart 8 Deluxe gets even bigger: Nintendo has indeed announced that eight new tracks will be available from December 7, as the third update of the “Booster Course Pass” DLC. Perhaps the term “new” is not entirely accurate, given that in all cases we are dealing with re-editions of tracks that have become famous in the history of the franchise; below we make a brief summary of all the salient details
- Rock Cup
- London Loop Tour (from Mario Kart Tour for smartphones/tablets)
- Boo Lake (from Mario Kart for Game Boy Advance)
- Rock Rock Mountain (from Mario Kart for Nintendo 3DS)
- Maple Treeway (from Mario Kart for Nintendo Wii)
- Moon Cup
- Tour Berlin Byways (also from Mario Kart Tour)
- Peach Gardens (from Mario Kart for Nintendo DS)
- Merry Mountain (Mario Kart Tour again)
- Rainbow Road (from Mario Kart for Nintendo 3DS)
Rainbow Road stands out in the package, which over time has become particularly iconic with its very suggestive space setting. We recall that overall Nintendo provides six “waves” of updates, each of 8 tracks for a total of 48, which therefore arrive at exactly doubling the initial number of tracks. The courses are organized in “cups”, each with 4 tracks. The Booster Course Pass can be purchased for €24.99 or as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.
Recall that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the Nintendo Switch re-release of Mario Kart 8, released in 2014 for Wii U. It is one of the best games ever by copies sold (we are talking about over 48 million by now), and it is certainly the best-selling Switch. Small side note: the official site of the DLC (SOURCE link at the bottom of the article) says that Wave 3 will be available on December 7, 2023. It is clearly a mistake, but it is true that Nintendo plans to release later this year next all remaining Waves.
