MIUI 14: the news
In terms of appearance, the MIUI 14 it doesn’t offer much different experience, and users will feel right at home, but the main changes are under the hood.
The most important news concerns the optimization of the space occupied by the operating system, thanks mainly to having reduced system apps (non-removable) to eight. This allowed for downsize MIUI and save a whopping 1.5GB.
But Xiaomi did not stop there and also brought a series of tweaks to its software, which allowed on the one hand to reduce memory consumption, and on the other to introduce optimizations for third-party apps that make them faster and smoother.
As we have noted the last weekthe new MIUI also brings important innovations from the point of view of privacy. Indeed, the company claims that a number of system scenarios (over 30), including
- the recognition of the images
- L’text extraction from the photos
- the subtitles for video calls
- there registration
- there translation
- and more
they will come processed locally (on the phone), then without send data to Xiaomi’s servers. The intent is to keep private user activities, which seems like a big step forward for a Chinese company.
Of an opposite nature, at least from a conceptual point of view, is the other novelty of MIUI 14, which receives the version 6.0 from XiaoAI Assistant.
Mainly oriented to the Chinese market, the assistant owner now learn habits of users and proposes a series of recommendationsproviding shortcuts to the payment codes and of transport ahead, as well as offering multifunctional reminders for planning, smart home, travel and more.
And i cats what do they have to do with it? As we said, the aesthetic novelties of MIUI 14 are not many, but Xiaomi has introduced the “Cute things” (nice things) interactive, avatars of cats and more that can be added to the screen to beautify it and make it more original. More concretely, users can also choose from four different icon sizes, as well as new widgets, customizable folders and more.
